Jennifer Kallam
Jennifer Kallam grew up in Alaska and began riding horses when she was just three years old. Her intense love for horses started early and has never waned. At the youthful age of 5, her persistence of getting a horse of her own paid off, and Misty joined the family. Misty and Jen competed successfully in the show ring when Jen was just six and, without really knowing, launched what would become a passionate career for Jen that continues to this day. As a Junior Rider, Jen’s competitive nature and unique ability to understand horses made her a very successful rider, and as such, she was given the unique opportunity to compete many different horses. This breadth of experience on various horses helped Jen earn Equitation Champion five different years, ASH Medal reserve Champion at age of 15, and ultimately ASH Medal Champion the following year.
With an intense desire to continually advance and progress her riding and horsemanship skills, Jen moved to England to work at the Yorkshire Riding Centre under the mentorship of Jane Bartle-Wilson and Christopher Bartle. She spent nearly 3 years working, training, and competing under the tutelage of these Equestrian Olympians. During this time, Jen became certified through the British Horse Society for training, teaching and stable management. Jen left the UK in 2005 with her BHSAI and a plethora of experience that she is eager to share with you.
Since moving to California in 2005, Jen has competed successfully in Jumpers, Dressage, and Eventing. In addition to teaching, she enjoys working with and developing young horses and has trained many that are now showing all over the state. Jen’s teaching style is relaxed yet very thorough; she is very dedicated to helping all her students reach their individual goals. Jen’s European teaching technique will help you understand the correct basics to help you achieve your personal best, while building an incredible bond with the horses you ride.
