Mia Simmans
Mia Simmans
Mia Simmans brings over 30 years of experience to the riding arena. She began riding at the age of 6 at the old red barn at Stanford Stables. She was an enthusiastic member of the Portola Valley Pony Club, and later the Los Altos Hunt Pony Club and was the youngest C rated rider in the region at the time. Mia obtained her dressage training with Lilo Fore and went on to 3-day event up to Preliminary level. She worked for Patricia Holmes and Welsh pony breeder Polly Swinerton and gained experience in breaking young horses and ponies to ride, jump and drive, as well as an education in equine breeding programs and practices. Mia also worked for and trained with Carole and Jennifer Atkinson and competed on the A circuit in both northern and southern California. Mia holds certification from the American Riding Instructors Association and loves to teach both children and adults about the wonderful world of horses. She has been an instructor at Miwok Stables in Mill Valley for the past 5 years, but is happy to be back in Portola Valley, which feels like coming home. With a background in Dressage, 3-Day Eventing, Hunter/Jumper training and Pony breeding and driving, Mia brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the California Riding Academy Team. We are proud to have her as part of our Team!
